I have traveled to Ireland to attend encaustic wax workshops in Ballyvaughan at the Burren College of Art and in Ballycastle at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation. The land and seas of Ireland captured me and have inspired my work well past my physical time spent there. Sometimes you travel to a place where you feel a connection—I suspect it’s in my DNA to love this place and the new friends I made while visiting. Ireland is rugged, peaceful, soft and hard, and the land is full of stories you can feel just by standing still. I love the stone, edges, surfaces, water, and millennia of bog I learned about in Belderrig, County Mayo. These paintings in encaustic wax, oil, and oil with cold wax medium express my excitement for this island country. Click through to see full images, hover for details and availability; price guide.
